Diamond Cut

The diamond cut is the shape the diamond was turned into. There are multiple cuts that can be put on a rough diamond. Larger diamonds do have more options for the shapes they can be turned into than small ones, but almost any diamond can be given the basic shapes such as round or princess.

Some people have attached meanings to the shape of diamonds, saying that if a woman wears a certain diamond cut, it shows her personality. Whether this is true or not, it is most definite that some people are more drawn to certain cuts than others. Sometimes it does seem like a certain style of diamond “fits” an individual well.

There are settings to go with certain diamond cuts. While some settings can accommodate different cuts, generally the diamonds are so different that they need completely different holding prongs. Also, a design that surrounds a marquis cut might not look good around a square cut.
