The Princess diamond is a much loved shape of diamond. This cut really accentuates the light coming off a diamond, and makes it a very brilliant stone. People love the Princess cut for its size and sparkle.

Princess diamonds are actually fairly new to the diamond market. They started being created in the 1960s. Since then they have surpassed almost all the other diamond cuts in popularity. They are a favorite with diamond cutters because they are fairly easy to create compared to other cuts.

The mounting for a Princess diamond is very important. Since the diamond has four corners, a four prong mounting that will protect each corner is the best option. Solitaire settings are probably the most popular settings for the Princess cut.
